CD/DVD sticky notes

Hi everyone,

We are putting sticky notes in the DVD/CD cases now so that patrons can leave comments regarding any issues with the discs.

When checking out DVD’s or CD’s, please explain to the patron that they can write down any issues they had.

When receiving returned CD’s or DVD’s, look at the note and if there were issues, bring the item to Sam or Claire.

Please put a new note in for the next patron.

Thanks!

Fake Active Shooter Threat

There was a fake active shooter threat message being sent around to students at SDSU on the morning of March 8, 2018. The SDSU police discredited the threat and the person who sent out the original message has been apprehended by the police.

The SDSU Police offical statement is:

“There is no threat to San Diego State University. University police officers were notified of an individual making threats on campus this morning. Officers have removed the individual, who is not affiliated with SDSU, from campus.”

Media Equipment – visual guides

The following media equipment kits now have laminated visual reference guides inside the boxes/cases:
1) Lavalier mics
2) GoPros
3) HD cameras
4) Shotgun (uni-directional) mics

For the kits that are currently checked out (which don’t have these guides yet), I’ll be adding them as they come in.

Please refer to these guides when checking media equipment out and back in. I’ll be going over this with everyone in person this next week.

I also created binder with all of these guides, which you can find by the Student Assistant stations. It’s green and labeled “Media Equipment Guide.” Here you’ll find all of the ones listed above (in case the ones in the kits get lost), and also a visual guide for the NI myDAQs.

Guard Incident

Dear Library Faculty and Staff:

A community user was charged with battery against our security guard in an incident that occurred late last night in the library. As far as we know, our guard sustained no long-term injuries. The community user has been issued with an order to stay off campus for 7 days and a University Police investigation is underway. The university will be issuing a statement soon. Please provide my contact information to anyone who asks for more information at any of our public desks: sbaird@mail.sdsu.edu, 594-2530.

COMMUNITY USERS & EARBUDS

Hello All,

There have been two identified community users who have been cut off from receiving earbuds. I am sure there are more but these are the only two we are aware of. If you know more please let a supervisor know.

First: Hispanic woman, “pock marked” face, dark hair, fairly short and stout. She usually wears floral/brightly colored blouses or dresses and her strap is constantly falling off her shoulder. She is usually accompanied by a portly white male wearing a ball cap. They both carry backpacks.

Second: African American woman, thin, average height, very short curly natural brown hair. Excessively torn oversized clothing, often grey sweatpants with a grey long sleeve shirt.

STUDENT HEADPHONE CHECKOUTS

Hello All,
Heads up for those who did not know, headphones (not earbuds) are now to be checked out to patrons with a REDID, we are no longer holding REDID cards as collateral. Earbuds are still given to only community users but be aware of how many times you are giving the same user earbuds, too many users are abusing the privilege.
