I’m in the process of getting detailed information on all of our equipment (brand types/models/accessories/etc.) If I’m around when you check an item in or out (cameras/audio gear/mics/etc.) please let me know so that I can take a look at the kit.
Missing HD camera and camera chips (memory cards)
It was just brought to our attention (a patron came by looking for these items) that all of our HD camera chips and one of our two available HD cameras are missing. I’ll mark these as missing in Alma but just as a heads up in case other patrons ask for these things.
Media equipment
Hi all, Just a quick friendly reminder (see Oct. 24 post) about media equipment/laptops etc. that are dropped off in my office – please remember to place a note on them with a brief description of the what the issue is. There were 4 laptops today and only one had a note. The other ones I didn’t know what to look for or troubleshoot, so I placed them back in the shelf area.
Meningitis on campus – be aware!
Everyone, it’s more important than ever to sanitize your work area before starting work and wash your hands several time a day.
Please DO NOT handle people’s phones.
If possible, have users swipe their own ID cards to check out – but look at the pictures, please.
Disinfect the other computers at the desk on a regular basis.
Make sure you sanitize the headphones.
Use the hand sanitizer if you handle items from the public and cannot wash your hands.
Please take this situation seriously and stay healthy!
Stuff being checked out to wrong patrons
We’ve had a rash of incidents where items are getting checked out to the wrong people.
It could be that SAs are looking up users by last name and choosing the wrong person from the list.
ONLY use Red ID numbers.
Or, SAs are not closing patron records and then mistakenly checking out stuff to the last user.
PLEASE. BE. CAREFUL.
Lost and Found key
Lost & Found key is snapped in half and currently broken. Hopefully there will be a solution soon but for now just place a cart in front of the cabinet when closing.
Post-it notes for equipment
Place all damaged/malfunctioning equipment in Sam’s office, rather than on the shelves. We’re finding that some of the post-it notes that are placed on these kits fall off and it’s hard to tell what kits need to be looked at and/or serviced. It’s ok to place notes on them (that way, when I look at the kits, I know what issues need to be addressed), but just place these kits directly in my office, rather than on the shelves.
Thursday lecture move – John Jennings
The John Jennings talk on Thursday at 1pm is being relocated to LL430/431 – originally it was supposed to be in LL108.
There will be signs up in the hallway re-directing attendees.
If you see lost people or if you get asked where the lecture is being held, please direct them to 430/431. Thanks!
Failed workaround for HP login
.We thought we had a workaround, but it apparently didn’t work out.
If you get calls from people who have an HP and are being prompted to login, tell them to bring the computer back to us. They might want to check out a Chromebook instead….
Network issues
Some patrons (as of Mon 10/16, 6:30pm) are reporting that they’re being kicked out of their network connection and then unable to find either Eduroam or SDSU wireless. Just FYI, in case anyone brings this up. IDT is looking into it.
