In order to have all types of laptops available for short term (4 hr) use, we now have 1 Chromebook (#15) and one HP (#1) available for 4hr loans. Make sure to notify patrons if you check these out to them. They should all have notes now in Alma that will remind you of this when you scan them out. Please remember to read these notes.
DON’T send non-students to Cashiers to pay for fines
ONLY students can pay at the Cashiers Office – everybody else has to pay HERE.
Before sending anyone to Cashiers, ASK if they are a student –
If a non-student wants to pay, get a staff person.
Earbuds for Community Users
Robert the guard shared with me that a few Cluster Niners have multiple pairs of give-away earbuds.
If you get requests for the freebies, would you ask if they have gotten them before? You can still give them a pair, but tell them that they’re only supposed to get one pair per person. Might help….
Media equipment page update
Hi all,
The media equipment page has been updated – you should see added search links for everything that was already on that page, and also the amount of kits we have for different things should be up to date now:
https://library.sdsu.edu/media/borrow-media-equipment
Please let me know if you notice something is missing or looks bad, or if there is anything else that should be included.
ValueLine for Fiscal Literacy class
We put all the most recent ValueLine pamphlets in on-campus envelopes for this class, one ‘volume’ per envelope, and a separate envelope for the Index. Let the students use the Index to decide which volume they want. This is the simplest way to deal with the influx of students all wanting to use this material
Using Equipment for Personal Use
Please checkout any equipment you plan on using during your shift or away from work. Items are going missing and we have no idea where they are. We are currently missing two Mac Book Chargers. If you have one please bring it back.
Have a great day!

No Mac renewals
The Mac computers cannot be renewed, even if there is another Mac in the equipment cabinet (that’s usually the 4-hour one anyway). Users must wait 24 hours before checking out another Mac – we have too few to be able to facilitate immediate turn-around, and it would be unfair to other users to do so anyway. If they want to check out a different computer like an HP or a Chromebook, that’s acceptable, for the time being.
Chromebooks update
Hi all,
The rest of the Chromebooks (all version ’13) have been processed and are ready to go. #’s 01 and 08 still have some issues with them. If any of you receive these when they come in, please drop them off in my office.
Also a reminder to let all patrons know that even when they end a session on these (not even a restart!), an installed program purges everything clean back to the default settings – Just as a heads up!
iPad cables
Hi all, just a note about the iPads. Please remember to make sure all items (Pads, chargers, cables) are properly checked out and in. We’re noticing that two different iPads over the past 2 weeks were left in circulation with the wrong types of chargers. They should have these cables:
https://files.cablewholesale.com/hires/10u2-04106.jpg
I found iPad#3 today with the wrong (smaller) cable, so we’re not able to charge it. I’ll be taking it out of circulation until we get a replacement cable. IDT has asked that I send this reminder out (they replaced one of the cables last week and are trying to avoid having to make frequent replacement orders.)
CHROMEBOOKS CAN ACCESS MICROSOFT WORD
FYI- some patrons have wanted to return Chromebooks because they don’t have Microsoft Word installed. If a patron says this, please inform them they can log into their Microsoft Office 360 account with their SDSU ID and access Microsoft Word that way.
