Manual receipts for book replacement

Sometimes library users will bring a replacement book to the desk. If full time staff isn’t available, please give the person a manual receipt. The manual receipt book is kept on the telephone desk in the vertical file where we keep the Guest Card log – look for the orange post-it. Follow the examples on some of the other receipts to complete the transaction. Put the book on the booktruck outside Joan’s office

PIN security

When library users call about their PINs, we cannot enter or change a PIN for them over the phone. It’s a breach of security and they have to go through the PIN creation/update as directed on the library website: https://libpac.sdsu.edu/pinreset. This is now standard for any website log-in.
Sometimes it’s not the PIN that’s preventing the user from using the library. Things to check when looking at the user’s record: is there a record for the patron? If not, refer to a staff person because we may be able to add them to the system. Is there an email in the record? Is it correct? You can update a user’s email. Have they expired in the system? You can put their Red ID number in the ID verifier to check their current status and update as necessary.

Lost and Found

A reminder for new Student Assistants (and old 😉 ) that valuables need to be logged immediately into the Valuables Log: the blue three-ring binder that sits on top of the L & F cabinet next to the printer or inside the cabinet on the right side of top shelf. When the owner picks up a Lost and Found valuable item they must sign for it. Valuable items are: phones, laptops, tablets, ipads, wallets and purses, fine jewelry, passports and anything with a perceived value of over $200.00
