On the public safety checklists, there are reports that the PA system is not working in the Asian Collection or 4th floor.
DRINKING FOUNTAINS NOT WORKING
A patron reported that there are issues with some of the drinking fountains not working (I didn’t verify if that meant no water coming out or just very little water) in the Donor hall as well as by the elevators on the 4th floor.
MISSING RBR BOOK
HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY: BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL INTERACTIONS call # R726.7.S27 RBR 2014 missing on the shelf. Edward searched for it as well on the rbr shelves but it hasn’t been found.
Need more tissues
The Circ Desk is out of tissues so please add those to the supply list!
Sockets in wall in Asian collection malfunction
Patron reported yesterday 9/18/15 that the wall sockets stopped working (her laptop was no longer being charged) in microfilms/Asian collection area on the right side wall at around 4pm. I said the problem would likely not be fixed today (Saturday). -Claire
Manual receipts for book replacement
Sometimes library users will bring a replacement book to the desk. If full time staff isn’t available, please give the person a manual receipt. The manual receipt book is kept on the telephone desk in the vertical file where we keep the Guest Card log – look for the orange post-it. Follow the examples on some of the other receipts to complete the transaction. Put the book on the booktruck outside Joan’s office
PIN security
When library users call about their PINs, we cannot enter or change a PIN for them over the phone. It’s a breach of security and they have to go through the PIN creation/update as directed on the library website: https://libpac.sdsu.edu/pinreset. This is now standard for any website log-in.
Sometimes it’s not the PIN that’s preventing the user from using the library. Things to check when looking at the user’s record: is there a record for the patron? If not, refer to a staff person because we may be able to add them to the system. Is there an email in the record? Is it correct? You can update a user’s email. Have they expired in the system? You can put their Red ID number in the ID verifier to check their current status and update as necessary.
Lost and Found
A reminder for new Student Assistants (and old 😉 ) that valuables need to be logged immediately into the Valuables Log: the blue three-ring binder that sits on top of the L & F cabinet next to the printer or inside the cabinet on the right side of top shelf. When the owner picks up a Lost and Found valuable item they must sign for it. Valuable items are: phones, laptops, tablets, ipads, wallets and purses, fine jewelry, passports and anything with a perceived value of over $200.00

A girl approached the Circulation Desk at around…
A girl approached the Circulation Desk at around 1:29 PM on 9/13 and informed us that a girl by Reference felt like she was going to faint. The girl soon afterwards approached the desk and sat and waited in one of the chairs by the desk. Edward called Campus Police and they arrived shortly after. -CJ and BC
