When overdue material is returned the fine info is sent to Cashiers and disappears from the active window in the user record. So we can no longer tell if a patron has overdue fines without going into ‘history’ which is a multi-step operation, or contacting Cashiers. Refer problems to a staff person. But please, please – don’t tell a patron that they don’t have anything owing on their record just because you don’t see any financial detail.

Transgender bathroom – 2nd floor Library Addition
Just a reminder that the transgender bathroom is open and available and is located across from the elevators in the 24/7 area.
We have one Community user who identifies as female and who has asked repeatedly about using the Women’s bathroom. The user asks for the guard to check that it’s ‘ok’ to use the women’s room. Here’s the policy: this person must decide which restroom to use and accept whatever consequences ensue – we can neither refuse nor condone the user’s actions, but the user should be aware that if the bathroom is occupied and the occupant decides to call Public Safety, or asks us to call Public Safety (if we’re asked to call, we must), the matter is out of our hands. In effect, we are not the bathroom police.
Community User computers – change in login procedures
Cluster Niners no longer have to remember their login and password to access computers – we’re asking them to put in first name last, last name first but frankly they can put anything in there and still login successfully. The two hour limit is still in force.
Department copy cards available
There are two copy cards for use by public, at your discretion.
Lots of students coming in who are registered but don’t yet have a Red ID card and only need to copy a few pages. Rather than making them buy a copy card, you can let them use ours – neither card has more than a dollar’s worth of copying funds. Cards are in the top drawer of the telephone desk

Garver Anatomy CD-R
Students have been asking for the CD-ROM for Garver’s class – it’s in Bill’s old office with the rest of the Media Reserve CDs and CD-Rs. You will probably need to check out an external drive since none of the computers (except Cluster 9) has a disc drive. Disc drives are in the Media equipment #1; look for the post-it. Currently you can’t check the drives out on Alma, so take their ID and hold it until the equipment is returned. Red Card – add a post it: ‘DVD Drive’
Equipment checkout suspended temporarily
Issues with media equipment so don’t check any out until next week
New student computer use – SDSUid
Students (and staff and faculty) need the new SDSUid to use the computers – if they don’t yet have it and can’t get it you can print out a PC reservation slip for them to use temporarily. They can go to getid.sdsu.edu for more info. There’s a stack of handouts up front – please hand ’em out
