Fire Alarm

There was a fire alarm this morning because facilities accidentally set it off. Most people exited and the doors did lock. There was no list for checking off employees because there was no one in admin and I don’t believe another department controls the list.

During an emergency alarm drop everything and head to the nearest exit. Remember we have an exit located behind the Man-Bear-Pig sign which may be safer than taking the Dome stairs. once out of the building, head to the grass area in between the Library Dome and Student Services West. Wait there to check in.

Trained Service Dog Accidently bit Student

Brad received a call from the 24/7 student assistants to head over to the 24/7 area. Brad talked to a student who apparently accidentally step on a trained service dog (Pit bull), and the dog responded with a light bite. According to the student, he just had a little scratch on is leg, so it was not a hard bite. The Student did not want to file a complain, or charge, he just wanted Brad to check to see if the dog was actually a trained service dog. Brad talked with the owner of the dog, who was a student as well, to verify if it was indeed a trained service dog. It was, and they left it at that.

Children’s Day

Unlike last year, we are better prepared for all of the kids running around the library. Once we realized what was going on, I had Beau go to the top of the dome and enforce our accompanied by a guardian policy. So far only a few kids slipped by hiding in a crowd, but we caught them down stairs and asked them to leave and come back with a guardian. We have had one complaint so far about noise in the donor hallway in front of the quiet study. I tried to let the student know that the 5th floor would probably be the best place for quiet study today, but she did not want to move because she “paid a ton in tuition.” We posted “quiet” signs in the doorways of the quiet study and there haven’t been any more noise complaints.
